The Kihei Caffe was another place we decided to try on our 2009 trip based on TripAdvisor and Maui Revealed reviews. It is a small cafe across from Kalama Beach park in Kihei. Their breakfast is supposed to be quite good, and we noticed how busy it was every time we drove by. Seating is outside on picnic tables along South Kihei Road. You place your order inside and they bring the food out to you.

We tried the banana macadamia nut pancakes for about $8 a plate. The pancakes were very good, and the fresh tropical toppings – banana, macadamia nuts, and coconut syrup – were amazing. The fresh banana and pineapple in Hawaii is just so much better than the stuff we get here.

As I mentioned above it was quite busy, and is not really the kind of place you would go for a quiet meal for two. Although it might depend what time you get there. We ended up there around 9am, which is probably one of the busier times to head for breakfast.

The owner was very friendly. She went around checking on the customers to ensure that we were all happy with our meals, and took photos of those who wanted them.

We didn’t go out for breakfast often, but were very happy we tried the Kihei Caffe and will go back again on our next trip to Maui.
